Richard Muralee

Richard Muralee was born in Kulang, a quaint town in the heart of Johor, south of Malaysia. He was the last of five siblings and has been a deep thinker since young. He questions everything and constantly challenges the status quo of things. Coming from a middle class background, he started his entrepreneurial mindset since the age of 9, when he started selling coconut candy. and he has never stopped doing a variety of things to earn income and understand self sustenance.

At the age of 16, he was already hiring workers for his construction and renovation projects, while still in school. He actually ran a construction company when he moved to Kuala Lumpur after high school. 

Richard finished his Law degree from the University of London, and later did his Masters in Human Resource Management from the University of Newcastle in Australia.

His first professional career was in financial services as a corporate agent for John Hancock Life. From a professional agent, he became the sales and training manager in just over two years. He then moved on to do freelance training and eventually set up on his own.

He founded Grip Training & Workshops in 1998. He started doing primarily sales training. After a few years with his continuous training and personal development, he became a facilitator for self change and a consultant for Organisational Behaviour. 

He became a highly sought after facilitator for group and individual process, hence his company name GRIP.

In 2012, he co-founded the Malaysia Shining Star Foundation. The foundation was set up to empower underprivileged children to start looking within and exploring limitless possibilities for themselves. This was a big milestone in his professional and personal life as this was something close to his heart and also something he has always worked on, both for his personal self as well as offering empowerment workshops to the public for free since 2000.

He started a year long project called Curiosity Compass for the foundation. 

He moved on to start something even bigger in his quest for empowering individuals. 

After over twenty years in training, facilitation and OB consulting, Richard has gained vast experience in empowering self change and has helped thousands of participants and clients in the region and around the globe. He has conducted change management workshops in a variety of sectors for a variety of culture and groups. 

He has a unique way of engaging people of all sorts of backgrounds and professions and delivering simple and profound ways for them to realise their limitless potential.

His project, Empowering Asia Unlimited is in the initial stage of execution, soon to be the biggest Asia-wide empowerment initiative.
